You’re misinformed. BP is a British oil company. BP, British Petroleum. Well, now it’s Beyond Petroleum. I truly believe that it’s the companies problem. I don’t agree with shelling out money to help them clean up their mess. That’s on them; therefore, what does our President have…
And I quote, Obama “sent cabinet secretaries, and an armada of homeland security, Environmental Protection Agency, FEMA and Coast Guard personnel, engineers, scientists, technicians and clean-up workers to the Gulf; more than 20,000 responders in all. There are multiple staging areas, and ships in the area involved in the clean-up. Nearly 2 million feet of containment boom, and a million gallons of chemical dispersant have been used to fight the spill. Obama has asked Congress for $130 million for clean-up operations. The White House has churned out reams of releases, statements, and reports to keep the public updated on the progress and problems in containing the spill.”
Like I said earlier, people would only be happy if he himself donned scuba gear and plugged the leak himself. It’s pretty much a lose-lose situation for him. The U.S. government expertise isn’t in this matter, and BP is. They said they had the problem under control, so we spent 20 days as they tried to show that they did. There wasn’t so much Obama could do, but let BP exhaust their efforts. Now it’s time for him to step in … and he just scheduled a meeting with the BP execs earlier today.
